planOKC update
Published December 2010
Before we head into 2011, we want to update you on what's been happening lately with planokc.
Stakeholder Groups
If you signed up for one or more stakeholder groups, you should be receiving email reminders and meeting notes from us. Phase 1 of the Stakeholder Group process kicked off at the end of October, and groups have been meeting once per month. The strengthenokc, serveokc, and playokc element groups finished up in December, but the rest of our stakeholder groups will continue through January or February. During the meetings, we've been identifying issues pertaining to each element of the plan. Each element group has several topics to address, and our Healthy Communities Oversight Group has been busy reviewing all of the elements to ensure that our goals to achieve a healthy community, healthy environment, and healthy economy are balanced throughout the plan. We've had great discussion and input from citizens in the community. If you haven't participated yet, be sure to review the work completed so far, and feel free to send us comments. Better yet, attend an upcoming meeting! To view an updated copy of the schedule, download maps and meeting materials, or to sign up for meeting reminders for one or more groups, visit us at www.planokc.org.
New Website
We just launched our new website! You will now be able to sign up for meeting reminders, review meeting materials, submit comments and questions online for each stakeholder group, and contact the planners responsible for each element. Check it out at www.planokc.org. (You can also still get there from www.okc.gov/planokc)
Planning Department Receives $500,000 Grant
We are excited to announce that the US Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded the Oklahoma City Planning Department a Sustainable Community Challenge Grant for $500,000! This grant will specifically be used for planokc. Additional funds mean that we can complete studies and/or surveys that can help inform the plan.
