planOKC August Update

Published August 2010

planOKC Neighborhood Workshop
Thank you to everyone who attended the planOKC Neighborhood Workshop at Langston OKC on July 15. Over 160 people helped identify strengths and threats that affect neighborhood livability. We are busy reviewing all of the great comments received from participants. Thank you also to Neighborhood Alliance for helping organize this wonderful event.

Meeting in a Box
A Meeting in a Box helps the Planning Department understand which factors residents feel contribute to the livability of their neighborhoods. Each box contains specific instructions to lead a meeting with any small group - your neighbors, civic group, friends or church members. If you would like to host a planOKC Meeting in a Box, there are still some left. You can pick one up at Neighborhood Alliance (NW 36th & Classen), or in the OKC Planning Department (420 W. Main St, 9th Floor). We made it easy to return the materials and ask that you return them by October 1.

planOKC Presentation Circuit
Our presentation circuit is in full swing! We have reached over 600 people this summer just by presenting information at civic and professional group meetings. The presentation takes about 20 minutes plus time for questions. At the end of the meeting, we offer attendees the option of signing up for our email list or joining a stakeholder group. There is still time to book a presentation. Contact us today at planOKC@okc.gov or 297-2283 to schedule a planOKC presentation at your next meeting.

Citizen Stakeholder Groups
Citizen Stakeholder Groups will begin this fall. More information about meeting dates and times will be sent out this month to those who have signed up. We are also establishing a process for those who wish to participate but cannot attend meetings. There will be a stakeholder group for each of the plan elements. If you haven't volunteered to participate on a stakeholder group yet and would like to, you can read a short description of the planOKC elements at www.okc.gov/planokc and click "Feedback Form" to send us your request.
